Wicked Fate Volume 1 Tabatha Vargo 9781480258297 Books

When Tabatha Vargo named her book 'Wicked Fate, it wasn't by accident - it was by design. Fate is indeed 'Wicked' for Mage and her love interest Adam.

Mage is a loner in a small town where her classmates are afraid of her because she appears different to them and she likes it that way. All that changes when she meets a new girl and her crush for years finally takes notice of her. Not to mention that she finds out that there's a reason she can do what she can do or the 'wicked' dreams she has. Her nightmares come to life though when a strange lady appears in her bedroom and it's never plain sailing for Mage from then.

If I had one phrase to describe this book it would be 'hold on to your seat, baby, you're in for a bumpy ride'. Although the book starts off slow and feels somewhat repetitive as we learn and grow into Mage's and Adam's relationship, there's no denying that by the time I had finished the book I was crying buckets and wanted to hug Mage and Adam so terribly bad. There was something about this book that was just simply magical - and it wasn't just because of Mage.

The story line was was wonderful and the characters even more so. Oh my, Thaddeus! He was a character I loved as much as Mage and Adam. Sire was another character in it that I simply adored and he ended up having quite a big part to play considering he was an animal.

And, since I'm talking about characters, I'll go onto my thoughts about Mage. I must admit that when I first started reading about Mage, I had a hard time identifying that she was so completely alone, but as I read on it became more apparent. From an early age she had been doing weird things and the kids had become wary of her. She had a sarcastic wit, which some people may decide to describe it as self-pity. It's not. She just hasn't had a normal life. And, there was no denying that she loves her family - and Adam. I loved her voice.

Adam is such a sweet and likable character. He was a typical boy. He loved his truck and his family. I don't know why he finally started pursuing Mage. Maybe it was because of ... well, I can't really say, because if you want to know why, you'll have to read the book. All I know is that he was perfect for Mage.

I don't have to mention this, but I wanted to give an unbiased review and so I have to be honest. There are a few grammar mistakes in this book - only very minor errors, but enough for me to notice it. But, even with them, it didn't distract from the book itself. And its ending is something I'm still thinking about - even a day later. I love books like that and, to be honest, I haven't read enough of those lately.

I would recommend this book to anyone who loves paranormal romance.

Wicked Fate Volume 1 Tabatha Vargo 9781480258297 Books Reviews

I adore Tabatha Vargo but this YA paranormal book was just ok for me. Luckily I see there is a Book #2 in this series or I would be really upset - this book ends suddenly & there are many issues left standing. Mage is a strange girl who the rest of the high school students avoid. She lives with her grandfather in a southern plantation along with the ghosts of her grandmother & her friend Thaddeus. Mage doesn't know exactly who she is but at a young age she displays the ability to move things & change occurrences with her hands & mind which lead her to a solitary life so no one would discover her hidden "talents". Adam is a fellow high school student who Mage has crushed on her entire life. In the beginning he is the only person who has witnessed her special gifts & he has kept her secret all these years. Adam finally comes forward & flirts with Mage & she opens up to him completely, sharing her gifts & letting him see exactly who she is, and he is smitten with her! After turning 17 Mage finds that her talents have become enhanced dramatically which puts her in danger. Adam tries to save her but he is simply human. He actually tries to stay away from Mage as he is warned that he is standing in her way, knowing if he interferes she could be seriously harmed. That is when the secret flowers start to appear to let Mage know exactly how Adam feels about her! So sweet! In the end it seems like Mage is all alone in the world & doesn't know how to move forward without Adam's love. It was probably much easier to be in her previous life of loneliness than to know what love really is & have it taken away. Hopefully something miraculous will occur in Book #2 to redeem this series.
I absolutely LOVED this book!!!! I was immediately hooked after the first page. I haven't read a book like this before. The fact that it is different from all the other books out there, makes it another favorite on my shelf. The story is written beautifully, and the world that Tabatha created, was unlike the others. I felt as if I was there. I felt as if I was there, and I was able to see picture everything around me with the descriptions that Tabatha used. I also love seeing characters grow through the stories. Along with the romance, that is my favorite part. I love seeing characters persevere though the troubles they are facing and become stronger. I was able to feel everything the characters felt as well. I loved it!!!!

Mage is different from everyone else. At school she is considered weird and a freak. They fear her. All of a sudden a new girl, Bernie, shows up at school and immediately tries to befriend her. Then Adam, her long time crush, starts paying attention to her all of sudden. Mage decides to make this school year different so she tries socializing for a change. Bernie and Adam immediately become important people in he life. Weird things start happening though. Mage starts having nightmares, or at least, she thinks they are nightmares. Her powers become much stronger than what they were. Will Mage be strong enough to overcome these changes? Will you solve the riddles from her nightmares and the ghosts of her family? What will become of Mage?

I loved Mage as a character. She was a social outcast, but she preferred it that way at the beginning. She was always afraid of hurting someone. But things change. She changed. Bernie and Adam became very important people in her life. I got to watch Mage be a loner at the beginning, but throughout the story, I got to see her open up. She was a character that I easily related to. Her powers were pretty amazing as well. On her sixteenth birthday, her powers become way stronger. She is able to anything and everything. This is where things changed for her though. People are looking for her. She finds out huge secrets out fer family, especially her mother and father. She stays strong though and that is what I loved about her. No matter what, she fights.

Who could not love Adam in this story. He is such a sweetheart. I am totally swooning. He has always noticed her since they were little. He knew a little about her powers and didn't tell a soul. As he realizes how strong her powers actually are, he supports her and doesn't run away. He is in total awe of her and her powers. She starts to feel because of him. The love they share is the real kind. The kind that is stronger than death. Lets face it, he is such a romantic as well. What he does for her on Christmas and her birthday was very sweet. I also loved how he sent her messages through flowers. I was hugely swooning there. What he does to protect her, shows how deep their love is.

There were so many shocks and surprises throughout this book. She learns about the history of her family and Thaddeus's story surprised me. I feel so sorry for him. Mage also learns the truth about her mother and father and the reason she was created. The ending was such a shock to me. I had a feeling it was going to happen, but I was really hoping it wouldn't. This book took me on an emotional roller coaster ride. The ending tore me to pieces. It took me forever to finish, because I couldn't quit crying. There is hope though. I can't wait to read the sequel!!!

Great debut Tabatha!!!!! I will definitely be preordering me a signed copy from Tabatha's blog. This book is a must have and a must read!!!! I recommend it to everyone!!!!
