This book was good, but not fantastic, in my opinion. And that is my opinion only. I do appreciate other readers' opinions.It was interesting to learn more about Cayto's slave-owning world. There were three main characters, the Master, the master's boyfriend and the slave, Diego. A triangle that was very tangled up.
I truly loved the previous two books in the series. I miss the lumber yard and the characters that I know. I did like it that I already knew Diego from his cameo in the last book.
I think that maybe I built up this book in my head. I waited for it to come out for so long that, I guess, nothing could ever be as great as my imagination of how I would have liked it to be written.
There were scenes near the end of the book with exactly the same plotline as the previous two books. There were also a few editorial mistakes this time around.
Still, it was great to have more written for this series than nothing at all.

It had a few challenging moments but overall I enjoyed this story and the characters. I found the too main characters to be very likable and the conflict very realistic.
I hesitated reading this third book in the Slave series due to the previous mention of Diego in book two. His horrible treatment by his previous master worried me and I was afraid this book would go into elaborate detail to cover the pain and suffering he endured. Thank goodness that DID NOT happen. Book three glossed over the horrible acts the Bad Master dealt to Diego, but the bulk of the story covers his time with his new master, the heir, Jason. In this book, we see how a compassionate being thinks about and treats the slaves of his society. I appreciated the way the writer took this book to show that her world of slavery wasn't full of inhumanity after all. I finished this book with a good feeling in my heart and hope for our fellow man.

A great story. Slow to start, but what a ride!
Not high literature but what do you want? For the treatment of this subject, "modern slavery," mixed with a "nice" relationship, this is well above average. The entire series is well done. I suspect that it could be criticized by being "predictable." So what? That is precisely why you want to pick up the book and read to begin with, isn't it? I wanted a guaranteed "happy ending," and of course got it.
